Smas*ing good weekend

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. I was woken up to an adorable 5 year old trying to sneak into the kitchen who was very disappointed that he couldn't reach the cereal to make me breakfast. SO FREAKIN ADORABLE. Love that kid.

He also made  me a lego purse. Very chic. All the celebrities are wearing them now. ;) I was touched that he was willing to share his precious legos with me!!
Before mother's day, though, on Saturday, I was able to get SMASH*Y! Woo!! I am not sure how I am feeling about these pages, but I had fun creating them and that's what really matters is the journey. All of the images were free on pinterest.com and google.com. The clips, of course, are Smash* brand, and I can't remember the brand of the pocket. The flair was from a prize I won over at Smash*aholics on Facebook. Then some randome elements. Even pleated some Target brand paper tape. Woots. Hope you enjoy!

My Mother

So, I finally get to share this since I had to wait until AFTER mother's day. This year, I wanted to give my mother something special. Not just a book or a bauble. I wanted to give her something that made her know how much I cared for her and how much of an impact she has made on my life and still continues to. I made her a scrapbook of me and her and my growing up with her, and added some bits about growing up with her. I am kind of happy with how it turned out.

My mother taught me art and gardening, how to have an imagination, and how to be myself, and that it was okay to BE myself, no matter how much I got teased for being me. She taught me how to make clover chains, and how to pick a thistle flower without hurting myself. She taught me to love animals and nature and how to be strong. So this is a very small tribute for all she has given me.

The papers that I used were almost exclusively Colorbok, a collection I found at Walmart for 5 dollars. The chipboard elements are all from K and Company. I LOVED them. The pearl elements were G Studios, I believe, but don't quote me on that....and the letters were from K and Company as well.

I hope you enjoyed this! It was a joy for me to create, for sure. I have missed crafting immensely since I started back to work and this book was wonderful therapy. Stay crafty, and hug your mom!

My Precious Pearls

So last year for our 7th wedding anniversary, my husband gave me this beautiful strand of cultured pearls. I absolutely love these colors. The are "my" colors. My sweet husband saw the ad for these in a magazine at work, ripped out the ad (in the right smash pocket) and went to the jeweler to buy them for me. So sweet, so romantic. He even saved the ad because he knew I would want to scrap it.

So, this last week, my son and I contracted either Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease or Parainfluenza....basically....we were rendered useless to humanity for almost an entire week. Not...fun....but by Saturday I was determined to try to be a human again...thus...I smash*ed. Yup. What else would I do? Clean the messy house? Psh. No way.

Something I am proud of with this spread is how little I actually spent for it. The lace was free from a friend, and I got the feathers for 10 cents for an entire handful, the embellishments were all G Studios from Walmart and that made em SUPER cheap, and the dress form was from my dear sweet friend Lizzie...and of course, free paint samples...making this chic AND cheap!!

I hope this inspires you all into having a super crafty week! Thanks for stopping by! Stay crafty!

The Girl Who Was On Fire

FINALLY finished a smash spread! I started this almost 2 weeks ago and finally found the time last night to complete it. I had the special edition People Magazine and I cut it up and collaged as many of the photos as I could, even used a flame I had planned on putting on my shirt (see this post). I also used an image from Saturated Canary that was AWESOME for this page! I got my color on and it was so much fun! Though, now I realize I need some refills for the few markers I have. Booooo.

So anyhow, here it is! Just a fun collage! Hope you enjoy!

Happy Easter Weekend, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

My Tribute

So today is the day of the 74th Hunger Games. The odds were in my favor. I got tickets EARLY and got a GREAT seat! Before I went to SEE the games, though, I wanted to have SOMETHING to wear. Ah, the ever present problem with being a female. NOTHING to WEAR.

Actually, while I was at work today I had time to brainstorm. Anyone want to see the inside of my head? hehe...Here you go!
Maybe I need Cinna. YES! Can I hire Cinna? No? Okay. Next best thing. Goodwill. Yeah, yeah.I am ALWAYS at Goodwill. People like...know me there...is that bad?

So I found this AMAZING gold shirt and it reminded me of fire and I totally wanted to wear it but it was SOOOO not in style at ALL...like...bad news. So,I cut it up and appliqued it to a tank top. AWESOME! So in less than an hour, I was a girl on fire!
 Yay, Heat N Bond!!!
Even my shoes are on fire. :D
So, here is the result. Girl on fire...sorta...Squee!
And the back....just to draw attention to my butt, apparently, LOL

You can't see it much in the pic, but I actually had some really dark smokey eyeshadow and some awesome eye glitter goin on!!
It was a great evening. I am so thrilled to have gotten to go and that my hubby was interested in seeing it. Loved the books, loved the movie. When does the next one come out? LOL Have a happy weekend...and may the odds, be EVER in your favor!

Addicted

It is official. Yup. I am ADDICTED to SMASH*ing. ::sigh:: the only problem with that would be the fact that I have not scrapped basically ANY pages of my SON from this year; nor have I finished last year's book. MUST get going on that. But before I do, here are some pages I did last night and Saturday.

This spread is something that I was inspired to do by my black smash* book. They had this section with questions about you, so I answered them and embellished from there. It was SO much FUN! I used pinterest and printed out the cute vintage images that had to do with my answers.

This is a close up of what was in my pocket. My supportive parents, a list of places I want to visit (there are more, but those are top) and then a pic of my and my boys in FL creating wonderful memories.

This is a smash of my top 7 songs that define me as a person. The songs include:
Firework (katie perry), Born this way (glee version), All Along (remedy drive), I'm still here (johnny reznick), The Words I would Say (sidewalk prophets), 100 years (matchbox 20), Loser (glee).

When I hear these songs they expose my soul and who I truly am, inside and out. I printed the lyrics for each song and put them in the pocket on the right. I printed pictures that represent the songs on the left and matched the #s to the songs in the pocket. I used bubble wrap to create the cool texture, and some other things I had laying around.

I really hope you enjoy and/or were inspired! Keep calm, and smash on! :D

Smashtastical!

So I finally took the plunge and bought a real SMASH* book. I chose the black one. I love the mod kinda feel it has and all of the graph paper and ledgers. Here are my project so far.

This page is dedicated to one of my favorite stories of all time, The Last Unicorn. I used to wait every year for thanksgiving so that I could sit and watch this movie. It wasn't until I was an adult that I learned it was actually a BOOK! So Christmas this year, DH bought me the book and I devoured it. This is one of those rare instances where the book and movie are almost identical in the story, which made it all that much better.
Sigh....Doctor Who...MY Doctor. I...LOVE...Doctor Who. Especially David Tennant. His character was possibly the best Doctor of all time. I have never laughed and cried so much during a television show as I did watching #10. ::sigh:: Now, season 6 is on Netflix so I am getting to catch up, but its just not the same. Matt Smith is okay and all...but there will never be another #10.

This page is dedicated to a few of my favorite stamp companies. Tickled Pink, CC Designs, The Greeting Farm, Some Odd Girl, and I love Ketto, sold on stampingbella.com. There are more, and I will probably have to make another couple of pages, but for now, its just 2 pages. ;)

If you would like to see any of my other smashing projects, I made my own smash book before I invested, and you can see those pages here and here. Thanks for stopping by! Oh! And be sure to check out the SMASH*a-holics group over on Facebook!
