Poppin Butterflies

I had a lot of fun making these cheerful Pop-A-Tops. The dies used to create these cards are called Pop-A-Top 18 and they are exclusive to The Stamp Doctor. They were created to coordinate perfectly with Spellbinders, S4-310, Labels 18. Its a beautiful match!

I am sure you know by now that I really dig these butterflies. More specifically, C008, Butterflies, set of 3. This time, I also used a couple of sentiments. B043 MED, Butterfly Wishes. and C084, Just Living.

To give the butterflies dimension, I stamped them on separate cardstock and used black and blue glitters (also available through The Stamp Doctor) and finally, cut the butterfly out. I stamped another butterfly onto the card itself to give it a shadowed effect and finally, adhered the body of the butterfly (only) with megatack onto the base butterfly. Let the megatack dry, and fold the wings up to create the dimensional effect.

These sweet cards are quick, but really do "pop". Hope you are inspired to create! Happy "almost spring"!

Tucson!

I had the amazing opportunity to go to Tucson, AZ just over a week ago to work at Stamp And Scrap Fest for a second time. Oh, my goodness. WHAT a blast! I fell in love with AZ all over again.

I went my senior year in high school and it was just beautiful. Seeing it as an adult again....priceless. I can't wait to go back and take my family!

On the way, I flew over the Grand Canyon as well as the HOOVER DAM! I was on the wrong side of the plane to see the Grand Canyon and get a pic, but it was still awesome!
I stopped over in Vegas to pick up the amazing Lizzie!! LOOK! VEGAS!!! Seriously...SLOT machines at the gates but NO PLUGS FOR OUR PHONE!!! Tell me how this makes since?!? Lizzie and I wanted to spend a couple of bucks in the penny slots but you have to buy a card and spend a minimum. Kinda took the fun out of it for me so we decided not to.

So when we got to Tucson, Lizzie was OBSESSED with the amazing cacti that we saw outside the airport. It was quite an ordeal to get across the road with Lizzie's giant suitcase filled with girl scout cookies....

This is my with my beautiful boss. MAN it was late that night. Haha. But we rocked it! Regardless of fatigue! Love you Mechelle!!!
Lizzie and I had a blast at the RV park for a bit. There were Cacti, and awesome metal sculptures....AND this wooden indian. OH! And a flamingo! Yeah, this RV park will never be the same. HAHA!

I taught a class on Saturday making these cards:

I had the best group of 7 people I could have asked for! Even made some new friends! I also had 2 men in my class and they ROCKED the cards. Like, seriously got into it and really did a good job! I was so proud of them for stepping outside their comfort zones! And can we just say....GLITTER totally happened!

Lizzie and I got a day out on Friday...and MAN did we have fun. We got amazing ice cream at a place called The Hub, but on our way we saw some amazing things! I seriously love Tucson...though, I kept my pepper spray handy at all times, hehe.

Did I mention that we got to meet and hang out with Ken Oliver? Mr. Talented from over at Spellbinders?

It was a truly amazing weekend. I feel so blessed and so darn lucky to be able to have had this opportunity to get to do something I really, honestly love. I hope that there will be many more opportunities like this in my future, but for now I am content with what I have. I am so amazingly lucky to have a husband that loves and supports my passions and indulges me from time to time so that I can have these opportunities guilt free.

Fluttering Butterflies

So, recently, I have been playing around with the Doctor and she has been teaching me new ways to use the dies from The Stamp Doctor.

One of the newest dies at the store are the Pop-A-Top dies. For this card I cut the card stock a bit differently and used the Pop-A-Top 18 on the side of the card vs the top, and created this double fold side pop card.

For the boarder on the front of the card I used Simple Sentiments 2, made to match with the Pop-A-Top 18 dies and Spellbinders Labels 17, S5-025. The butterflies are C008, "Butterfly Set Of 3), and the sentiment on the inside of the card is Simple Sentiments 3. The flowers were created using the Bottle Cap and Flower Die Set, available exclusively at The Stamp Doctor. The dots on the inside are A137, "Dippity Dots.

This card was so fun to make and it made me so happy! I hope it inspires you to create something amazing!

Also, be sure to check out http://stampandscrapfest.blogspot.com/ if you live in Arizona and sign up to crop and for some amazing classes!

Smash*ing Weekend!

So, this weekend, I got to go and craft with someone new! We met through the Smash*aholics group, and then we realized we had real life friends in common, as well as crafting natures!

We finally got to get together for the first time on Saturday afternoon, and Smash*! It was so fun, and so relaxed. Its so great to get together and forget the real world for just a bit and focus on paper, ink and conversation. Thanks, Kristy for the best crafting day in awhile!

I even managed to get 2 full 2 page spreads done! I used my new "Cutsey Style" Smash*book from K&Company. This book will be my crafting exploits book, so what better to start with than my trip to Houston to meet up with the infamous Lizzie, and THE Stamp Doctor herself!

I recently rediscovered my cricut and had a blast using it to make tons of die cuts this weekend, so I am completely rejuvenated and feeling crafty again!

Incidentally, in 9 days, I will be in Tuscon, Arizona working and teaching and having an all-around blast with Miss Liz and Mechelle once again. Can't wait! I know there will be lots of Smash*ing things happening!
