Lovin With Burlap!!

My hubby came home the other day and had brought me some burlap coffee bags from a friend of ours. I was so excited! I have been wanting to make a Valentine banner for a bit now. I might be hooked. I see more burlap banners in the near future.

I cut out the banner shapes and then also backed it with kraft paper so that it would hang right. I painted the burlap with some acrylic gesso. I had this awesome fusia sparkle fabric....canvas...stuff....I dunno.  I found it at Hobby Lobby on clearance so I grabbed it because I am kind of a crow...it if sparkles, I must have it. Anyhow, I cut out some hearts. Cause...Valentines day...duh...

I used some Studio G turquoise ink and a honeycomb mask to create a pattern on the gesso, and then it all just came together!

Of COURSE I used some of my new Julie Nutting stamps from Christmas. Paper piecing the smaller stamps is tedious but I still cannot bring myself to just color them. I feel like they come to life with the patterned paper.

To finish everything I sewed with some light blue thread with a zig zag stitch and viola!

And here is is on my vintage window. I can't wait to make some heart garland and add some lights and make it all Valentiney! No hate mail for how early it is for valentines. In fact, GET CRAFTING!!

True Story

So today, school in sumner county let out 3 hours early due to zero degree wind chill (and below) and since we have a lot of low funded, poorer schools in our county a lot of the kids don't have coats and have to walk a long way to the bus stop and then there are portables....

Anyway, so Noah and I went on an outing and did a little clearance shopping. He used up the last of his Christmas money and I got to go to Tuesday Morning and Michaels. Woot! With the holiday season gone and CHA just around the corner, Michaels had a lot of Heidi Swapp on clearance. WOO! I got some stuffs!!!

SO...I got home, folded and put away laundry and CRAFTED! Woot!!! And I hope to get to again tomorrow. My new job is so less mental strain so I am clear enough to be inspired. Its magic!

I got 3 new julie nutting stamp sets for Christmas and have been wanting to try then so badly! I got 3 of the card sized smaller girls and I was afraid they would be hard to paper piece but it worked like a dream with my super pointy EK Success detail scissors. The tag came from my shopping today. Its a Heidi Swapp watercolor, die cut tag. The bakers twine comes from Jilly Bean Soup. The papers are Dear Lizzie Neapolitan and  Studio Calico Atlantic. Those were also from my trip today.

Had a blast creating again. ALSO...my daily doodle...I might have to start doing like 2 doodle posts a week...but this week, I had time so here is my last doodle for the ASC Doodle stuff in your craft space challenge.

Dude I ACTUALLY had craft stuff in my craft space today! WOO!!! Can't wait to see what the next challenge is!! Stay warm out there guys!!

Little Russian Doodle

So today, for ASC Doodles, I drew a little Matroyshka doll that I have sitting on my dresser in my craft room. I am not sure it is real. In fact, it probably is fake....but I still love it. When my husband and I were antiquing on our anniversary 2 years ago and I found her and brought her home. I am 3 or 4 generations removed from Russia on my mother's side so I like having something to remind me.

Anyhow, here she is in all her glory! Once again doodled with pencil, inked with sharpie and colored with water color pencils and dove blenders. I think I will try other color mediums next time.

Not a terrible representation. I too some liberties because of my limited color palette as well as just drew what I felt. I wasn't going for photo realism. ;)

Hope you enjoyed this little doodle. It was fun having something to do while I waited for my son in the car today. :)

Dooodle....DOOOODLLLE!!!

Today is day 5 in the ASC doodle challenge. I know....day 5 and I have only done 2....but, in my defense, it was the third day that I found out about it, so 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

The theme this week, or our prompt I guess, is to doodle things on your craft desk or in your craft area. I have this awesome, huge stuffed Dalek that sits on top of my cricut box in my craft area so, of course, he was next on my list to draw.

I doodled him out in not-so-exact sketchiess and then used a black sharpie to sketchie and ink him in some more. I colored him using watercolor pencils and dove blenders. I didn't have a black pencil. Was kinda bummed. Still excited for the result, though! I had fun doodling the lil guy.

I hope to be back tomorrow with another sketch. Its back to work and school and martial arts and all that jazzie jazz so I will have to make time for my doodling. It will happen!!!

I doodle, therefore I am

I am so excited about the many possibilities of 2015; One of which, being ASC Doodle Days! I am a doodler at heart. Always have been. Used to get me into a lot of trouble in school, but it helps me concentrate and it really helps me relax.

When my friends started posting on FB, I had to see what the fuss was all about. I can't wait to doodle the year away!

This week's prompt is to doodle things in your crafting space. Of course, the first thing I thought of was my new dress form that hubby bought me for Christmas so that I could learn to sew.

I have been "zen tangling" since before I new it was a thing. I would sit for hours and doodle this way and its great to know its a "thing" now!

So, without further adieu, here is my first doodle of the year:

I hope you enjoy it, and just maybe it will inspire you!
