Guilty Pleasures

Watched that episode on Glee, recently. Loved the boy-friend arm. Haha. Gotta love Kurt.

So, to kick off our celebration of reaching THREE THOUSAND members of the Smash*aholics, I thought a guilty pleasure challenge would be just the thing. I could make an entire BOOK of guilty pleasures, but for this purpose, I stuck to one page.

For my guilty pleasures I chose to Smash* about, Glee, Thrifting and Castleville. I mean, that is not even the tip of the iceberg  but they are some of my tops.  Thrift shopping, being number one on that list. If I go more than 2 weeks without frequenting at least one thrift shop looking for books, then my head explodes....okay, not literally, but pretty darn near!

I used my nifty bubble wrap "stamp" to make the paint dots, and used a doily to create the purple pattern with paint on the left page. I am really learning to enjoy paint on my projects!!

Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, I thought I would offer up an old image that I created a couple of years ago. I am offering this as a free image to anyone and everyone who may want it. I would love for you to link up your projects here for me to see! If you create something with this image, maybe use something you have salvaged or recycled, like some old cardboard or packaging from something you have recently bought.

One of my biggest contributions to our Earth is how many recycled, reusable bags that I own. I rarely bring plastic bags into the house, and if I do I try to re-use them for cat litter, or trash, or something along those lines. At least give them more than one use. What do you do to clean up your part of the world?

Horsin' Around

So, as much as I LOVE smash*ing, I need to catch up with my scrapbooking. No, for realz....I have ONLY done my son's birthday page for this year. Today, I was taking it a little easy and decided to go ahead and do a page. It was one of those delightful, happy accidents where the page kind of builds itself and does what you envisioned. ::sigh:: I also made the world record smallest mess when I scrapped too. I swear. I think my things might finally be organized the right way for the first time in 10 years!

So, the page I decided on was from back in late Feb, I think, when I went to a horse farm to take some pictures for my in-laws. They have a neat horse accessory business called, "Heart My Horse". They have all kinds of fun shirts and jewelry for sale and have some other neat things in the works. 

Anyhow, my husband and son surprised us near the end of the shoot and popped over to visit. It was Noah's first time on a farm of this kind and he loved the barn and the horses. He has always been a natural with animals, so we weren't surprised that he fit right in. I took the opportunity to shoot my raggedy boy before we left, and this was one of the shots. I also smash*ed this last week, but I don't want to show you until its time for the challenges. Smash*aholics is coming up on a huge milestone....we are almost to 3 thousand members. Kellie Winnell has created probably, arguably, the most popular group on FB for Smash*ing fans. Its hoppin any time of the day or night with inspiration to spare! Once we hit our 3k mark, we will begin an entire week of celebrations! 

I also Smash*ed for our upcoming May challenge. Again, you hafta wait. Sorry. "Spoilers". 

I am, however, going to be a nerd and show you the spray paint I made today. FINALLY. I am so behind the curve....and I am also going to show you my bubble wrap stamp that I made. Cause, I love me some painted bubble wrap stampin. 

So for the paint splatter stuffs, I put paint (about an inch or a little better?) in the bottom of the bottles. I added alcohol until it was the thickness I thought I liked when it was shaken up. I sprayed to be sure. For this paper, I wiped off the excess and was left with a cool watery effect. ::shrug:: guess I will have fun playing!

Now, for this, I took a large, (at least 6 inches long) acrylic block and wrapped it in bubble wrap, and taped the seam. When I use it, I paint whatever color(s) I want, stamp until I am done, rinse with water and dry and I am ready for another round of stampin! I am kinda proud of myself. Haha. ::shakes head::

Hippie day (60s day) went well yesterday. Noah had a blast in his costume. Today was PJ day. Less exciting, but tomorrow is crazy hair day and we are ALL about some red dye and spikes! Stay tuned for photos! Woohoo!

Hippie Dippy Kinda Day

I gotta say, Tie Dye and bell bottoms are right up my ally. You should see some of my pics from school. Just sayin. Haha.

So, my son has spirit week next week. They kick Monday off with, 60s day. Noah begged for tie dye and little round glasses. He also wants a long wig, but I can't find one around here and don't feel like paying shipping, so he will have to do with a head strap...thing...wow...WORDS...lol

So, I scoped out our local Goodwill in lieu of making my own tie dye. Cheaper, faster, easier. Hey, don't judge. I am....saving the planet...from...hideous clothing....haha. I cut off the bottom of the green shirt and used part of the hem for his head piece, and another part for the peace sign he HAD to have, according to him. What can I say, the boy knows what he wants! Can't argue with that.

The brown shirt, I cut off a few inches from the bottom and cut about 4 inches from the middle of the shirt (from bottom to top.) then I cut 6 inch strips from the bottom and then pulled them to make them roll up. I then cut off the sleeves and the neckline as well. It is perfect! Well, for an almost first grader for spirit week, anyway. This entire project took less than 30 minutes.

Spring time and puffy clouds

Oh, my goodness! It took long enough for the weather to decide what season it was, but it looks like warmer weather will be here to stay...for the moment. Home today; day two; with my lil guy. Fever of 102.2. ::sigh:: He escaped ALL of the terrible illnesses almost all winter...and now...a few days before the LEGO kids fest (which is already paid for) he gets sick. Oh, well. It can't be helped.

So, I took today to finally finish my March section in my 365 smash*. I also took the opportunity to enter the paper issues challenge, which is, "up in the clouds". I had some scrap paper that someone sent me a couple of years ago that had some adorable puffy clouds, and then I had cut out this cute airplane from the Basic Gray package of some of my embellies. Couldn't throw away the packaging. Yes. I am cassandra...and I am a craft hoarder. ::sigh:: But, I am super glad I did! I love this page!

The little arrow on the top right of the left page, and the little folder on the bottom left of the right page pull open to reveal even more goodies.

The chipboard arrows, and the teal and orange letters all came from Paper Issues. I can't wait to order again. So much cuteness!!
